Spice Route

Location: King & Spadina
Type of Food: Asian
Favourite plate: Sweet & Sour Pork  with grilled vegetable and pineapple ($16)

Spice Route ... what to say about this place ... first thing that comes to mind is that its so cool!! For the longest time I had wanted to know what was behind those dark doors guarded by brass fire torches. Every time I walked by, the interesting asian architecture and decoration lured me in but those heavy doors made me imagine that it was some kind of private socialite club. So finally I decided to google the mysterious building and I found out that it was in fact not a private venue, immediately I made reservations and looked forward to discovering this gem.

If you are someone who  really appreciates a thoroughly thought out decorative space - you will be blown away with this restaurant. The space is huge, yet somehow they managed to properly cater it with a modern asian decorative spin - even the bathrooms are cool!! The layout of the seating is even pretty interesting, especially since they have booths large enough to fit what looked like 10 people!

Last but not least, the food is very good, the menu is very large and has so many kinds of dishes to choose from. The environment is very lively, young and classy.  Apart from the indoors restaurant seating, there is also heated patio space where you can also wine and dine (I'm not sure about during the winter, but its definitely open spring to fall). All and all, I totally recommend this spot, although it may be my excitement for finally crossing the iron door threshold, I really think you will really enjoy your time here!
